Mike's Fish & Chips

We finally got the chance to try the cod fish and chips this evening and I must say, this place is a gem in the heart of Southampton. My partner had the steak and kidney pie. Had a cheeky saveloy on the side - their saveloy isn’t the mushy type, in my opinion, was outstanding. The battered cod was also outstanding - perfectly cooked inside and crispy on the outside. The people serving behind the till were also pleasant. No wonder when we got there this afternoon, it was packed!

I went to Mike's fish & chips today, I haven't had fish and chips for a while and just decided I was going to treat myself. The staff were friendly, accommodating and polite. They were warm and the customers seemed to know them and like them. The food was fantastic, the Haddock was fresh and the batter was crispy and crunchy, the chips could have been slightly more crispy but were lovely nevertheless. As a woman I felt safe and welcome and I enjoyed every mouthful. I'd recommend anyone to go there.

Had some Cod with chips and a meat pie. Really good size for the price which is quite affordable, great flavour and texture. The place is clean and the staff is really kind. They also have an extensive menu of food you'll want to try, I'll sure come back.

Finally fish and chips I was craving for a long time. Fish was tasty and fresh ( you can easily tell when it's frozen or not but here it really is fresh) and lovely chunky chips. Can't remember when I had such a great chippy. Friendly staff too and affordable prices 👍

Absolutely amazing fish & chips, especially the fish was very moist and had just the right amount of batter. Probably the best I ever had. We also tried the steak and kidney pie which we also liked and enjoyed a fried mars bar for dessert (see picture). They do accept payment by card, which makes it very easy for those out of town. Big extra plus for the friendliness of the staff and the generous portions. Next time I’m in town I’ll definitely will eat here again!

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had! They provided an entire filet of cod in a light crispy batter with tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. Unbelievable! No piece of fish here. You get the whole filet! The place itself looks like a cafe counter. When we first arrived, we thought we were at the wrong place. Thank god we decided to stay and try it out! It was the best! Definitely recommend! The only downside was they didn’t have any beer to go with the fish.

So far definitely the best fish and chips. Even compare with posh restaurants. P.S. When I ask can I have big fish they understand what I mean.
